Here are the highlights from Kelly & Tim’s 8/11/07 wedding at Holy Cross Church, followed by a reception at the Mavris Arts & Event Center:

UPDATE: I just received this wonderful e-mail already from Kelly: Oh my gosh Bob!!! This is amazing!!! You are soooo good. I can’t wait to see the final product. I am going to forward this on to all of my family and friends. Thank you so much!” Get the popcorn ready this weekend, Kelly & Tim!

I capped off our busiest summer ever in style last Friday with Lindsay & Brian’s elegant wedding and reception at the Omni Severin Hotel downtown. While Julie Acheson of Royal Creations was dressing up the ballroom in a stunning black and white floral motif, I joined photographers Bobbi+Mike for some fun shots in the bridal suite, on the big staircase, and outside on one of the nicest days we’ve had all summer. While the guys were fairly subdued behind the scenes, the ladies were having a blast, thanks to Bobbi’s energy and some hoppin’ tunes on an iPod. This spirited, easy-going bride didn’t want or need any accessories and was ready to party!

Dr. Scott Toussaint presided over the beautiful ceremony, giving us the backstory on each of the ceremony’s traditions as the couple went through them. After the couple recessed under a shower of petals (my favorite of Julie’s special touches), we took Lindsay and Brian outside for some more fun shots as the wind really picked up. The dinner time was as lovely as always, and the Omni’s Carrie Sprague (who along with Bobbi referred the couple to me – thanks, ladies!) spoiled us as she always does. Jeremy Gearries of DJs Direct kept the music relatively contemporary much to the crowd’s delight. The dessert bar was to die for – a perfect ending to a perfect summer wedding season!

Missy & Nigel were married in the ornate auditorium of the Scottish Rite Cathedral, which was the only remaining space there in which I had not covered a wedding before (though Laurie did a couple of years back). The groom had the crowd in stitches when he got an untimely case of uncontrollable giggles upon being asked to recite the “richer or poorer” part of his vows. The levity continued throughout the reception in the beautiful ballroom, especially during Nigel’s endearingly goofy dance with his mother. My favorite line of the night was when the petite bride’s taller sister said during her toast, “Even though you’re my older sister, I’ve always thought of you as my little sister because, well, you’re little!”
As fun as it is to work with vendors I know, it’s also a kick to work with a whole new group of wedding professionals for the first time. Photographer Dave Mason of Image Source Photographic in Lafayette, the designers of Hand Tied Memories (love the fishbowl centerpieces!) from Middletown, local family band Chango, and even the “new” folks at the Scottish Rite (filling in for the recently departed Valerie Crider, who referred the couple to me) were all a joy to get to know. The staff of Thomas Caterers did provide some familiar faces, along with a killer dessert bar featuring an endless variety of tasty pies!

I recently learned that we got nominated as Indy’s Best Videographer on WRTV’s IndyChannel A-List! Although I sniffed early on that this was just a clever advertising campaign by WRTV disguised as a popularity contest, I was really touched to learn that so many clients and fellow wedding professionals were voting for me, pushing me to #1 so far without my asking for any votes. That means more to me than winning any award possibly could. So just for them, I’ve decided to give in and do what we’ve been asked to do and that’s ask for YOUR vote! 🙂
If you are a former client happy with our work, a future client who decided that we were the best option for you, or a fellow friend or wedding professional who already believes that we are the best, then you can cast your vote for IndyVisual at this link:
If you’d like to check out our fellow nominees and cast your vote in their direction (which is totally fine with me – I’m a good sport!), then you can go to this link:
It’s all in good fun, so enjoy!

It was through tragic circumstances that Kerri & Ryan met, comforted and eventually fell in love with each other, and this past weekend was a celebration of two families remembering loved ones while moving forward with a positive attitude and true appreciation for life. The couple exchanged vows at First Baptist Church in a ceremony highlighted by Ryan’s four children helping the couple light their unity candle. The reception marked my first return in a couple of years to the Marriott North, where Megan Morton and I were excited to finally work together for the first time (not counting a corporate job she referred last year) since her days at the Columbia Club. (Thanks to Megan, Sunny Moon and the Columbia Club for referring the couple to me!) Photographer Erin Hession and her gang were fun to observe and hang out with throughout the day, and it was a treat to get to know DJ Matt Rawlings, who works full-time two buildings away from me at TourDesign. (He’s also getting married next month, so congrats in advance, Matt!) After a fun evening of nonstop dancing, Ryan surprised Kerri and their guests by announcing the location of their honeymoon – St. Kitts!

Just when I thought the Omni Severin‘s Carrie Sprague & Amanda Coffey couldn’t possibly spoil us more than they already have, not only did they refer two awesome events to us for Laurie to cover there this past weekend, but they also let us keep our gear in their office overnight. Wendi & Patrick’s Sunday ceremony took place under an intimate chuppah in the beautifully refurbished Fischer Ballroom, which featured some nice floral touches by Kathy’s Kloset. Laurie and photographer Larry Seidman kept this very free-spirited couple on track through the cake-cutting and other formalities, and the equally free-spirited Wendy Reed Band kept them on the dance floor all night with their trademark sassy brand of rock-n-soul.

This is probably as good a spot as any to thank Rich Johnson and Geoffrey Chandler for lending a hand on a very high-demand weekend in which we had an unprecedented FOUR weddings to cover. Rich managed to help us out with taping twice in the midst of his studio’s own two weddings, and Geoff made time to assist us before and after participating in a triathlon. Big ups, fellas!
