No one will soon forget Kourtni & Mike’s wedding weekend at Blueberry Hill Estate in the beautiful rolling hills of Paoli, Indiana.  From the rehearsal activities Friday night captured by Brandon through the concluding fireworks Saturday, the magic never let up.  The hilltop ceremony was an unforgettable highlight, with Darcie and her team working hard to make it happen ahead of the approaching rain.  The reception tent looked magnificent as well, and Jim Cerone was the perfect host to guide the guests through so many unique moments, my favorite of which was the singing of “Sweet Caroline” as a tribute to the memory of loved ones who were missed.  Kudos to the rest of the amazing team of vendors for toughing out the extreme heat & driving rain to make this amazing day happen, including Circle City Planners, Ian Borgerhoff Photography (who referred Kourtni & Mike to us), Karen Hall and Company, Westwood Paper Company, Hoaglin Catering, Heavenly Sweets, Wow Factors and Evans Audio Visual.BlogNalkerNew

Shelby & Brian’s wedding day took place on the amazing private Nashville, Indiana property owned by Brian’s family, affectionately named Serenity Lake Lodge.  After capturing preparations in the house and the couple’s first meeting on their lakeside dock alongside photographer Jessica Strickland, we moved into the stunningly decorated barn for a short but sweet ceremony.  Then the action moved to a tent by the house for dinner, featuring gorgeous tables created by Wow Factors, out of this world centerpieces by Bella’s Blooms and Hoaglin Catering‘s usual delectable service.

Meanwhile, the Mon Amie Events team (who referred this event to us) flipped the barn to reveal a dramatic new look sculpted by Evans Audio Visual‘s lighting design and a surprise by the groom courtesy of Classic Cakes.  Minutes later, Brian’s father surprised the crowd by playing a song on one of the grand pianos that he had written for the groom’s mother after their first date.  DJ Krista Lee took it from there, rocking the crowd into the night.

I’ll never forget my dear friend Amanda’s giddiness when she first told me she started dating Alex during their days at the Omni Severin Hotel, or the day we hung out in the Conrad Indianapolis lobby for an hour talking at length about their wedding day…a whole year before they got engaged.  So it was truly an honor finally to be there to witness and film their big day.  After preparations in Amanda’s suite at the Conrad followed by an emotional first meeting in the penthouse, I joined photographer Andrew Scalini for some stunning pictures on the rooftop and around downtown before heading to the ceremony in the Indiana Landmarks Center, a former church that has been transformed into an incredible event space.

The reception took place down the hall in a dramatic two-story rotunda, tastefully appointed by Paul’s Flowers with setup help by Gene Huddleson of Detail+Design, with intimate spaces on both levels for the guests to savor the many delightful surprises served by Hoaglin Fine Catering.  After many tearful speeches (“It runs in the family,” joked her brother as he broke down), the celebration was on, led by the Endless Summer Band with a memorable appearance onstage by Amanda’s godmother.  Planner Monica Richard of Detail+Design was with all of us every step of the way to make sure everything ran perfectly, and it was such a treat to spend a fun evening with so many industry friends among the guests and vendor team.

Jenni & Bob wanted their residential wedding to feel like a cozy, personal gathering of their closest family and friends, so consultant Monica Richard and designer Gene Huddleson (both of Detail+Design) delivered an eye-popping experience that was intimate, unique and spectacular all at the same time. The guests arrived for a pre-ceremony cocktail hour and were greeted by a tent filled with elegant designer furniture, which created a comfortable atmosphere in which they could mingle and then witness the ceremony featuring classic rock music and lyrics by Neil Young, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles.

The reception tent design was a tour de force effort, spreading the same living room vibe around the most unbelievable dance floor I have ever seen or heard of – a detailed replica of the couple’s favorite Monet painting, with “rippling” water courtesy of BMG Productions. Add some energetic funk/R&B by the Chicago Catz and a few onstage appearances by the groom himself (his serenade to the bride with “867-5309/Jenny” was a definite highlight), and you have one extraordinary evening that no one there will ever forget.

Huge thanks to John & Angela Deaver of Main Street Productions for traveling 11 hours to film this event for us, Jenni’s sister Rachel (whose very different yet equally stunning wedding we filmed last fall) for putting in a good word for us, and especially Monica for bringing us into an incredibly talented team that also included photographer Hether Miles, Hoaglin Fine Catering, A Classic Party Rental, KB Designs, Elite Management Services Valet Parking and Classic Cakes among many others.

(Note: Out of respect for the client’s privacy, this version of the video focuses solely on the magnificent decor provided by Detail+Design.)

My friends at Circle City Planners had been anticipating this weekend with excitement and some nervousness all year with good reason – six weddings, with FIVE on June 26! I spent a couple of hours running around guerrilla-style to each of their reception venues (Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station twice, Laurel Hall, Scottish Rite Cathedral and two residences) to capture some of the preparations and decor behind the scenes. It was a little crazy, but Team CCP pulled it all off with style to spare.
