I got to know Julie through some marketing work that we both did for a friend’s travel company, and we bonded during a trip to the breathtaking Hawaiian island of Kauai.  So I was overjoyed when she told me more recently that she was engaged and wanted me to film her big day with Scott.  The intimate wedding at Holy Spirit at Geist Parish was followed by photos at the Conrad Indianapolis with Angela Talley (who had also joined us on the Hawaii trip), and then a low-key dinner reception at Mo’s Steak House.  Along with Julie’s sister Jennie, we all enjoyed reliving old memories of our Hawaiian adventure together while creating new ones for this very sweet couple.

Nimi & Rav’s epic wedding weekend culminated with a traditional Hindu ceremony at the Indiana State House, followed by a jam-packed evening of entertainment at the Hyatt Regency.  Our coverage began on Saturday morning as the groom arrived in a very high-spirited baraat processional, with the majority of the two-hour ceremony taking place under an extravagant mandap provided by Mayil Mandaps filled with beautiful details and traditions.

The reception at the Hyatt commenced with a hour-long program filled with speeches, formalities, and plenty of dancing, including a cool interpretation of different stages of the couple’s courtship.  The ballroom looked fantastic courtesy of decor by Bokay Florist with assists by Classic Cakes, LGI Linens and Evans Audio Visual among others.  DJ Khiladi kept the crowd in a frenzy with expert mixing of Indian and western dance music, and photographer Angel Canary (who referred the couple to us) captured the fun through her candid coverage as well as her nicely constructed photo booth.

Anica & Andy became one in an elegant wedding ceremony at Meridian Street United Methodist Church, followed by a huge reception at Crowne Plaza at Historic Union Station.  Family and faith were recurrent themes throughout the day, as Andy’s father (who was also his best man) presided over a portion of the ceremony, and Anica’s father lovingly restored a bicycle from the 1940’s, which was a striking focal point for Circle City Designers‘ eclectic decor as the guests arrived at the reception.  Wedding Entertainment Director Jim Cerone led the crowd through an evening filled with priceless moments, and after some cool night-time downtown shots with photographer Kevin Swan, Anica & Andy exited through a row of sparklers  into their new life together.  Big thanks to Jim, Kevin & the Crowne for referring such a beautiful event to us!

Jamie & Matt exchanged vows in a beautiful wedding ceremony at St. Christopher Parish in Speedway before celebrating at the Conrad Indianapolis. Their first meeting took place in the stunning Kite condo on the top floor of the Conrad, which offered an unparalleled view and backdrops for photographs by Erin Hession’s team.  (Check out the amazing photos on Erin’s blog!)  After the ceremony, we all proceeded to the newly restored Monument Circle for more shots before settling in at the Conrad.

The reception featured gorgeous decor by The Empty Vase, an elegant cake by Heavenly Sweets, and great party music by the band Groove Essential. All of these details were expertly overseen by Deborah & Cassie of A Touch of Elegance. Special thanks to the Conrad’s Amanda Spicer for referring such a fun couple to us!

Pamela & Sean were united in a romantic wedding service at the beautiful Sanctuary on Penn, followed by an intimate reception at Maggiano’s.  The Sanctuary is a full-service wedding venue has come a long way since I filmed the first wedding in the former church last summer, and it provided the perfect backdrop for this couple and their family & friends.  The reception was filled with lots of laughter, good food (no surprise), and memorable moments.  Special thanks to Brandon New for helping out, and thanks to photographer Sue Huffer for the last-minute referral.

I had the pleasure of filming Thomas Caterers of Distinction‘s annual tasting event at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, where many of their (and my) favorite industry friends and clients gathered to sample and evaluate the latest innovations in tasty goodness by the amazing Thomas culinary team under the guidance of PACE Lifetime Achievement Award-winning co-owner Kelly Early.  Half the fun was hanging out with so many great friends throughout the night, and the other half was sampling the menu items myself after shooting them along with photographer Amanda Fales.  (Check our her blog post for more detailed descriptions of these yummy creations.)

I’ve been blessed with many opportunities to travel to some amazing destinations (St. Kitts, Riviera Maya, St. Lucia, etc.) to film some incredible weddings in paradise, and this epic wedding weekend at the Ritz Carlton in Naples belongs right at the top of that list.  Gene Huddleson of Detail+Design referred this PACE Award-winning (for “Best Wedding: Budget over $200,000”) four-day extravaganza to me, and his team’s creativity was evident in every aspect of the weekend, from the rehearsal activities and welcome dinner to the stunning sunset ceremony on the beach, through the spectacular reception and “afterglow” party and finally the day-after brunch.  By contractual agreement I cannot reveal the client, but I thought it would be fun to assemble a quickie sampling of some of D+D’s beautiful work for such a warm and generous family on this perfect wedding weekend!

We are thrilled to announce that IndyVisual was recognized with three PACE Awards at the ISES (International Special Events Society) Indiana PACE Awards ceremony on Friday at D’Amore Indianapolis.  The awards were for Best Social Videographer, Best Corporate Videographer, and Best Team Effort (Budget Under $75,000).  The first award was for the work we did at the paw-sitively dog-tastic 50th birthday event for Erin Hession‘s aunt Mary, and the latter two were for the work we did with the inspiring Blissful Wishes Ball benefiting Wish Upon a Wedding.

We were also honored to be involved in events that won other awards, such as Best Wedding (Budget $75,000-$200,000) and Best Wedding (Budget Over $200,000) by Detail+Design (thanks for the shout-out, Gene!), as well as Best Industry Contribution given to Monica Richard for leading the founding board of the Indianapolis chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding, on which I am honored to serve.   It was such a joy to see so much due recognition given to so many great friends in the industry, and an even greater joy to celebrate with them afterwards while consuming massive amounts of Thomas Caterers‘ tasty creations.

These awards will sit happily alongside our five previous PACE and Esprit (the international version of the PACE) trophies.  Of course, awards aren’t the reason that we do what we do, but being recognized by the best of the best in the event industry inspires us to continue growing and serving our clients to the best of our ability.

I recently had the pleasure of filming Art of the Table at the Columbia Club for the fourth consecutive year.  Organized by the Indiana chapter of the Association of Bridal Consultants as a benefit for the Betty Jackson Memorial Education Fund and American Cancer Society, this event featured astounding tablescapes by many of Indy’s most talented event designers.  It was truly a joy to hang out with so many talented friends who were table designers, fellow sponsors, committee members and volunteers.  Events like this make me so proud to be a member of ABC!

Maggie & Ben rang in the new year in style with a wedding ceremony at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, followed by a reception at the Conrad Indianapolis. This was no ordinary reception, as designer David Reilich and McNamara Florist‘s Alan Thompson, AIFD created a unique communal atmosphere highlighted by long never-ending tables lined with florals and candles. The Endless Summer Band kept the crowd going strong throughout the night, and then kicked it into an even higher gear after the midnight countdown. It was fun as always working with Amanda & Nate of Turtle Pond Photography, and big thanks to the Conrad’s Amanda Spicer for the last-minute referral!
